KS3 Course Information
Pupils study either French or Spanish in Year 7 and 8. Teaching and learning are carried out using the 'immersion' method, where students are trained to communicate solely in the foreign language. In Year 8 and Year 9 students study German as a second language.
The topics studied at KS3 are Family, Home, School, Leisure activities, In and around town, Food and Drink, Body parts and Illnesses, Holidays, Environment and Daily routine.

KS3 Exam Information
At the end of every half-term pupils sit Milestone Assessments and are assessed on two of the four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) in their first language, and assessed on one skill in their second language.
KS3 Expectations
Students are expected to be enthusiastic, engaged and converse only in the target language. Very quick progress is made through the immersion method.

KS4 Course Information
Every pupil studies at least one language at Key Stage 4. If pupils select their second language as an option, they study two languages.

KS4 Exam Information
There is no longer a coursework component in the GCSE syllabus. There are 4 exams, each worth 25% of the final grade: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
KS4 Expectations
Students are expected to apply themselves and work hard from day 1 as teachers will continue to apply immersion principles as in KS3.
